Korea · Simcheong's village in Korea
The heroes of this story.

Throws her tooth on the roof and sings to the magpie. Wishes for ALL the rice cakes, then stands very straight and asks carefully: one rice cake, for her father.

Black wings, white belly, tail long as a ribbon — the bird that brings good news. Sings the tooth song back, chirp for chirp, and drops a tail feather as a message.

Born from a forgotten broom that learned to laugh. Its bangmangi club grants exactly what you ask for — exactly how you ask it. No words, just joy.

Shivering under the temple eaves, one wing folded wrong. Simcheong wraps it in hanji — strong paper, paper you can build with.

Receives the one perfect rice cake: "For me?" "For you. I asked carefully."
When Simcheong's tooth comes loose, she throws it on the roof and sings the magpie's song — and the kkachi sings it back, dropping a tail feather that points to a hurt swallow. A young dokkaebi's asking club grants her wish for ALL the rice cakes — the whole floor disappears under them — teaching her that the club gives exactly what you ask for, exactly how you ask it. So she asks carefully: one rice cake, for her father. Then they wrap the swallow's wing in hanji, and kindness gathers.
